Have Questions About Your Pet’s Care?
How much do your services cost?
All patients receive customized care to best fit their needs. Discuss your budget with your veterinary team before treatment. Call us at (601) 856-5333 to request an estimate for your visit.
What is your payment policy?
Payment is expected at the time services are rendered. We accept:
- Cash
- Most credit cards
- Checks
- CareCredit
What is CareCredit?
The CareCredit credit card can be used for routine veterinary appointments, grooming services, emergency pet care, or a variety of surgeries and treatments in the CareCredit network. It gives pet owners the peace of mind needed to care for their pets. Visit CareCredit.com for more information.
How often should my pet have an exam?
We recommend:
- Yearly visits for most pets
- Biannual visits for elderly pets
Annual exams typically include:
- A detailed physical exam by a doctor
- Annual vaccinations
- Parasite screening
- Additional lab testing as needed
We also recommend comprehensive lab panels every 6 months for senior pets to allow early detection and monitoring of common diseases.
Why does my pet need a dental cleaning?
Pets cannot express dental pain. Dental disease causes bacteria buildup that can spread through the bloodstream and affect the heart, liver, and kidneys.
Routine cleanings:
- Minimize time under anesthesia
- Reduce the need for advanced oral surgery
- Improve your pet’s comfort and quality of life
What should I do if I notice fleas or ticks on my pet?
Fleas and ticks often go unnoticed in pets with thick coats or those who spend time outdoors. They can:
- Transmit serious diseases
- Cause intense discomfort and skin irritation
We offer a variety of safe, effective prescription treatments and preventatives.
At what age should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
We typically recommend spaying or neutering around 6 months of age, depending on your pet’s species, breed, and size. Spaying/neutering offers many health and behavioral benefits and helps prevent overpopulation.
Is heartworm prevention recommended year-round?
Yes. Mosquitoes, which carry heartworms, are active year-round in Mississippi — even indoors. Mississippi has one of the highest rates of heartworm in the country. An annual heartworm test is required to maintain a prescription for prevention.
I just got a new pet. What are my next steps?
Congratulations! Here’s what to do:
- Schedule a first visit to establish care
- Bring or send prior medical records
- Arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork
Most adult pets need annual vaccines. Puppies and kittens usually need 2 to 4 sets of vaccines by 15 weeks of age. We look forward to meeting your new pet!
What is a microchip for my pet?
A microchip is not a GPS device. If your pet is lost and scanned at a clinic or shelter, the microchip company will contact you.
How it works:
- The chip is inserted under the skin at the back of the neck
- The procedure is quick and usually does not require sedation
- It can also be performed during a spay or neuter
Keep your microchip registration up to date so your contact information remains current.
