Ultrasound in Madison

A Gentle, Powerful Tool for Diagnosing Pet Health Concerns

What Is Pet Ultrasound?

Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce real-time images of your pet’s internal organs. Unlike X-rays, which are best for bones and dense structures, ultrasound allows us to evaluate soft tissues such as the:

Liver

Kidneys

Spleen

Bladder

Gallbladder

Stomach and intestines

Uterus (for pregnancy checks)

Heart (in some cases, known as echocardiography)

Ultrasound is especially useful for diagnosing masses, fluid buildup, organ enlargement, or abdominal pain with minimal stress on your pet.

What to Expect During Your Pet’s Ultrasound

Your pet’s comfort is always our priority. Most ultrasounds are done while your pet is awake, using gentle restraint. In some cases, light sedation may be used to help them relax. Our skilled veterinary team performs the procedure in-house and will discuss results with you promptly — sometimes right on the spot.

If needed, we may also send images to a board-certified radiologist for advanced interpretation.
